System logs

• Applications may have their own logs at whatever location. System-wide logs usually reside at /var/log
• Default system log is called syslog, isn't it? Practical way of reading it: tail /var/log/syslog. Probably more practical: less /var/log/syslog. Although it starts at the beginning of the file, this file doesn't seem too unwieldly. You can scroll through it using PageUp and PageDown.
