How to block YouTube on my mobile phone?
Brainstorm
Apps:
- AppBlock: OK (4.4/5 stars) but expensive?
- AirDroid Parental Control
- Boring Phone → I didn't understand it (in 15seconds)
- Freedom
- Lessphone
- Mobicip - A parental control app. Maybe better than Google Parental Control
- Stay Focused: Site/App Blocker - 4.3/5 stars.
Other:
- Block in the router at home
- Digital wellbeing - Very limited: You can just reverse the settings
- Google Parental Control
- Get in the habit of not having my phone with me all the time
- Something like Pluckeye: That blocks can be cancelled, but that it takes time before it becomes active. This way, I do have control, but time is the blocking device.
- Use Screen time settings: Doesn't seem to work as you can change settings any moment
Freedom (app)
- Freedom uses sesions in which blockings are active. In the free trial, you have 7 such sessions. Subsequently, you have to pay
- It's easy to add YouTube to the list of blocked adds
- After starting a session, it seems I can still just uninstall Freemdom. Let's wait until a later session to verify that
- Reviews are quite mixed in their feedback.
Google Parental Control
- This only works if parent & child/teenager have Gmail accounts that are in the same country
- I don't really like it.
