WooCommerce EU VAT number plugin

The WooCommerce EU VAT Number plugin is a payed plugin that allows you to verify European VAT numbers in real-time. This is an official WooCommerce plugin. It uses a service for the actual VAT number verification, called VIES: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/

Installation

This is a payed plugin, hence you cannot install it using WP-CLI, but you can update through the WP-CLI:

wp plugin activate woocommerce-eu-vat-number

Case: Error entering VAT number (2024.02)

Problem

On one site, I get this error when entering a valid VAT number:

Je hebt een ongeldige landcode ingevuld voor BTW nummer (NL...) voor je factureringsland (NL).

I don't get this on another, similar site.

Questions

• Where is this error text configured/stored?
• Any more settings besided the few at wp_admin » WooCommerce » Tax » EU VAT Number Handling?
