Rollups (Notion)

A rollup field is the extension of a lookup field:

• First define a relation between two tables using a lookup field
• Subsequently, retrieve the value of another field (meaning, other than the primary key), or of an aggregated function from that secondary table itn

Examples

• Orders with order lines: Transfer order line numbers to an order
• Projects and tasks: Incorporate the project status in tasks, so that you can hide or show tasks, depending on the status of the project
• Filters-over-joins: Copy the 'remote' field on which you want to filter to the 'local' entity (because in Notion, you can't ordinarily filter over joins).
